This module combines two devices: an electromechanical relay and a pulsed power converter. This allows you to switch electrical circuits with a current strength of up to 10 A and supply your controller board from an ordinary outlet.

This AC / DC module is easy to install, no hassle at all. One side of the board has contacts for connection to the household electric system 220 V, while the other has contacts for connecting the microcontroller and relay outputs.

The module is fixed in place with brackets, which take M3 screws. If the brackets are not needed they can be easily taken off with wire cutters.

Power Supply

The module has a stabilized switching power supply, converting AC to DC. The voltage at the output is always 5 V, regardless of the connected load. This makes the module suitable for powering microcontrollers such as an Arduino, Iskra or Raspberry Pi.

For connection to the 220 V network, the input group of screw terminals are used. They are located at the top of the module - next to the fuse - and labeled INPUT.

  • Terminal L is for the connection to a phase of the household system
  • Central terminal is for the ground
  • Terminal N is for the neutral

When connected to the network correctly a 5 V LED will light up next to the power supply.

The control board can be powered from two screw terminals, via the blue pads located in the lower left corner of the module. To connect to them, use male to male jumpers.

  • GND - ground from the inverter. Connect to the board’s ground.
  • 5V - power supply from the inverter. Connect to the board’s 5 V terminal.

Electromechanical Relay

A relay is just a mechanical switch that can be controlled by a microcontroller, such as an Arduino. There is no electrical connection between the control electronics and the switched load, which means that it won’t kill your device. With the help of a relay, you can turn on and off electrical appliances that are connected to any household electrical outlet .

All the electronics necessary to control the relay are already built into the module. The module also has an LED, which will tellyou whether the relay is closed or open.

Connect the load to screw terminals in the lower right corner of the module. This is the four-contact green pad, labeled OUTPUT.

  • Left terminal - ground
  • Terminal L.NO - normally open (NO) relay output
  • Terminal L.NC - normally closed (NC) relay output
  • Terminal N - connected to the main via input terminal N

When connecting the module to an Arduino or Iskra, consider using a Troyka Shield.

The relay is connected to three pins on the microcontroller:

  • Ground (G) - connect to ground on the board
  • Power Supply (V) - connect to the 5 V bus on the board
  • Signal (S) - connect to the digital output of the board

The relay is controlled via the built-in key which allows you to use any voltage from 3 to 5 V as a control signal. The relay is switched by a control signal according to the Troyka standard.

WARNING! If you are not sure how to connect an electrical appliance working on 120 - 220V network to the relay, or if you have doubts and questions about how it is done, STOP. This voltage level can easily start a fire or end your life. Please make sure that you have a full understanding of the principles behind the relay and the dangers that are associated with high voltage. There are some mistakes you can only make once.
